Not to go back is somewhat to advance, and men must walk, at least, before they dance.

-Alexander Pope

We have started 2012 on a very good note. The first program for the year, the 11 th Postgraduate Convention at Lucknow, has been a success. We have seen a tremendous response from the associate and life members for the event. The organizers definitely deserve to be congratulated.

A first of a kind "IDA-ISP Summit" was conducted on 29 April 2012 at Jaipur. For the very first time, two dental professional organizations came together to promote Periodontology amongst the general dentists. The CDE program was well attended and we are very thankful to the Indian Dental Association (IDA) for collaborating with us and conducting the program.

ISP - Listerine lecture series is being conducted in 100 select dental colleges for the undergraduate clinical students in the country and is being received well. Our aim would be to cover all the 100 dental colleges before the annual conference in Shimla.

The communication for the Oral Hygiene Day has been sent to members and the dental colleges. The response is phenomenal and we hope that we will be seeing an unprecedented participation by members this year in celebrating the event.

The ISP merit awards notification has reached the dental colleges and the Head Office is receiving the names of the toppers in Periodontology.

I request the teachers to forward the names of the deserving candidates with all the details to enable the candidates to receive the award at the annual conference.

The "Training of Teachers" program was well attended by young teachers at Udaipur in the month of June 2012. The second one is planned in September 2012 in Manipal. I request the life members to take advantage of this program and improve their teaching skills.

The members are the strength of any association. I request our members to motivate their non-member periodontist friends to become members of Indian Society of Periodontology and stand united.

Whatever there be of progress in life comes not through adaptation but through daring, through obeying the blind urge.
