When any real progress is made, we unlearn and learn a new what we thought we knew before.

Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862)Indian Society Periodontology is abuzz with activities in the year 2013. From the time our President put forth his ideas, the office bearers and the executive with the life members have joined hands to carry out these activities.

"Perio-Samshodhan" envisioned by our immediate past President Dr. Mohd. Faizuddin was conducted in Bangalore from the 15 th to 17 th March 2013 for the faculty members to sensitize them on research methodology. The month of April 2013 saw the return of "Training of Teachers" at Navi Mumbai from the 19 th to 21 st ; conducted very smoothly and efficiently by Dr. Arvind Shetty in the backdrop of the picturesque D. Y. Patil Stadium. I must say the program is a very big hit amongst the academicians/members which was proved by the fact that senior members like Dr. R P Nayak along with Dr. D G Pol, Dr. QJA Shakir, Dr. Mala Dixit, Dr. Varsha Rathod and Dr. Swapna Mahale along with the young Turks were taking keen interest in re-learning the "Art and Science" of teaching. "It was an amazing experience" was what Dr. Sudhakar Nayak from Manipal University had to say about the program.

The 1 st professional enrichment program was conducted at Vadodara for the practitioners on May 19 th 2013 with the efforts from Dr. Neeraj Deshpande and Dr. Viral Patel. The notice for the essay competition has reached the members and I am sure the members will respond in large numbers to make this annual event a successful one once again.

The "World No Tobacco Day" is being celebrated in a big way by the society at Ahmedabad on 1 st May 2013. Dr. Mihir Shah, the program coordinator is not leaving any stone unturned to show case this event. The Dental Colleges of Gujarat and the health professionals are joining hands in the "Quit Tobacco Movement."

The training of teachers will be conducted at Kottayam again from the 21 st to 23 rd June 2013. I request the members to capitalize on these programs and bring out the best in them by being a part of the programs and contributing to the success of the program and keep the flag of ISP flying high.
