Over the last year or so it has become progressively evident that digital transformation is inevitable. A non- negotiable requirement without which hitherto working ecosystems will not be able to survive in a rapidly evolving landscape in the COVID era.
While the IT and ITES sector is accustomed to work remotely and collaborate across time zones, many other organisations are just taking their first few toddling steps into the realm of digital transformation. While this shift is causing some unease, it is of paramount importance that it should be done sooner than later to retain primacy and productivity.
Digitalisation ensures that the targeted services are made available to stakeholders electronically thus saving costs and time. For operations still lacking familiarity with the digital landscape, this is seen like a challenge not likely to be surmounted. However, some homework to understand the requirements and consultations with experts provide good continuity solutions ultimately.
Of course there are justified concerns regarding cost and lack of knowledge and experience with digital products and packages, but to look at it as a long term investment is the key. Investing now in digitalization can help as an 'insurance' against future unprecedented crises more likely than ever in this COVID era. As we have seen over the last couple of months it is not a choice anymore but is a core necessity to survive.
We at the ISP set about bringing these changes in March last year when we introduced the online payment system for our memberships through our website www.ispperio.com.The practical functionality of that one change was seen throughout the last year and this year also when lockdowns made it impossible to visit banks, post offices or courier services. The memberships continue to pour down at a good even pace via digital route. Not only that, abundant scientific programs involving reputed national and international speakers on e-platforms have allowed us to continue the knowledge exchange free flowing even if we were not able to meet physically. The first ever ISP national post graduate convention 2021 in a digital mode is also going to be a reality soon.
Time for all of us to become a part of digitally empowered society.
